Upbeat on Infosys; Purchase Bank Nifty today; HPCL, LIC

The Bank Nifty today is a purchasing opportunity, especially after yesterday's price movement says. Market is likely to open up and traders must use this opportunity to take profits on existing short positions. Bank Nifty today is a buying opportunity, mainly after yesterday's price movement. The Bank Nifty yesterday rallied about 500-points from the lows so there could be a likely movement upwards. So one can buy it with a stop around 17600. Since we are in a bull market correction, the gap up could last or could fizzle out and so one should wait for about two days to see if the lows hold or the decline continues. Stock specific, Infosys , LIC Housing and HPCL are good trades for the day and one can buy them on dips. On the banking front ITC today also is likely to remain rough and had no trade on it either way. HUL is a low beta stock but one look for a positional trade in it even at current levels of Rs 763. His target of Rs 1000 on the stock residue.

Nifty remain same on 8100, Sensex firm; BHEL, GAIL rush 4%

Both BHEL and GAIL are up 4 percent. Tata Power, Hindalco and ICICI Bank are other top gainers in the Sensex. Among the losers are Hero, Wipro, HDFC.

About 1844 shares have advanced, 528 shares reduced, and 73 shares are same. Nifty six week hit closing low, giving buying opportunities

With the Nifty in a consolidation phase, the market is giving opportunities at every stage. There is no fundamental weakness, the macroeconomic situation is improving and corporate earnings seem fine, on the back of which he believes not just the midcaps, there is opportunity now even in large cap stocks. The government is giving a lot of thrust to the power sector and in PSU banks, the government is clear that it wants to bring down its stake. Large cap PSU banks may be a good buying opportunity. It may be a good idea to invest in some of the select tyre companies, but only on dips. Other than that, cement companies, some of the NBFC companies and holding companies of insurance business. Going ahead, he feels consumers will ultimately start spending more, directly benefiting the consumer discretionary companies.

Sensex, Nifty hit six-week closing low

Shares of oil exploration and production companies led decline as key benchmark indices edged lower in choppy trade. After staging a strong intraday recovery in mid-afternoon trade, the benchmark indices weakened once again during the last one hour of the trading session.
